children's Ministry

In our Children's Ministry, our mission is to help kids find their way to God, connect with others, 

and contribute to changing the world. We believe that kids have the capacity to walk intimately with God, 

and we love to see them learn about God and connect through Bible stories, songs, and crafts.

sunday school

We meet at 10:15 in the basement, during Sunday school, children, ages 3 years - 5th Grade, can join in the fun of faith formation at Sunday School! With a weekly lesson, Bible story and focus on the church calendar, children will engage in the life of the church as they begin to apply their faith to real life! We dive deep into the stories and practices of our faith as we explore God’s love in our lives together at Sunday school. The 1st Sunday of the month is our family  worship Sunday, so we encourage families to worship together on this day, no Sunday school.

CHUM Nursery

The CHUM Nursery is available on Sunday mornings for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. It is available from

8:50- 11:15 am. The nursery is located on the main floor across from Fellowship Hall. Once children are 4 and

potty trained they are able to attend Sunday School in the basement  with the “BIG KIDS”!

november 2-3, 2024

2ND-5TH GRADE

“God on the Go” is an overnight retreat where children’s pastors from our area and camp counselors from this past summer will lead the kids through some awesome experiences to connect with God and with their faith at Camp Horizon on November 2-3rd.  


Cal Siebenmark and I will be going down as leaders from CHUM. I can provide transportation down and back from camp. If you don’t know Cal Siebenmark he is a lifelong CHUMite and 4th grade teacher here in Wichita, and was a previous camp counselor. Cal volunteers one Sunday a month with me and the kids during Sunday school. He and I are both huge church camp fans and can answer any question you may have!

The goal of this children's retreat opportunity is fourfold:

  • First-- through fun camp activities and faith practices, kids will learn that God is with them wherever they go!
  • Second-- it's an awesome opportunity for churches to have quality children's programming that isn't something you all have to plan alone
  • Third-- we hope it helps kids build in the practice of "taking time away" from the busyness of life to recenter and reconnect with Jesus
  • Fourth-- we want kids to have the opportunity to sleep over at camp and see all that camp horizon has to offer. Camp is a huge asset to their faith and to our collective ministry!
